Veolia China was accorded the “Solid Waste Treatment Industry Corporate Social Responsibility Award”

On the evening of the last day of the forum, ZHOU Xiao Hua, Senior Vice-President Veolia China, Waste Activities, was invited to do a sharing on “Visualizing the Post-19th National Congress Environmental Era and the Next Decade of Solid Waste Treatment”.

More than ten years ago, Veolia introduced pioneering technologies, operation models and philosophies to the China market, thanks to its extensive experience in running waste operations in Europe and other countries. Veolia has launched many “First in China” projects and the initial implementation of the PPP model in the country. The waste incineration technology has seen rapid development in the recent ten years, which to a large extent provided a solution to the overwhelming waste generated in urban areas. Despite challenges the technology faces, we are confident that forward-looking and high-level policies would be come up with, and they would serve as guidance for the industry and allow more freedom for environmental companies to develop and innovate.

With the Climate Summit being held in Paris this year, carbon reduction guidelines may become the direction of our industry in the coming future. At present, domestic waste treatment projects in Europe has begun to ask for our commitment to reduce carbon emission in communities. This phenomenon will extend to China in the foreseeable future. Given this, we hope to develop a waste treatment model that is more scientific and sustainable.”
