The Chemical Waste Treatment Facilities (CWTF) is the only chemical waste treatment facility in Hong Kong. Being one of the most comprehensive and sophisticated hazardous waste treatment facilities in Asia, it is designed and operated according to very stringent international environmental and safety standards. It provides a cradle-to-grave solution for all land-based chemical waste generated in Hong Kong, disposal of clinical waste, as well as collection and treatment services for marine pollutants (MARPOL waste) generated from ocean-going vessels.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of Veolia, Ecospace Limited was awarded the 10-year follow-on upgrade and operation contract of the CWTF in 2009. Prior to that, the Environmental Protection Department of the Hong Kong Government has awarded design, build and operation (DBO) contract to Enviropace Limited (same parent company as Ecopsace) in 1990.
