Veolia at the 27th IE expo China: Converging Water, Waste and Energy to Advance Ecological Responsibility

2026年环博会

The 27th IE expo China opened its doors in Shanghai from April 13-15, bringing together leading players across the environmental industry. Veolia, as a global leader in ecological transformation, showcased its integrated service capabilities across three businesses — Water, Waste and Energy— while presenting key technologies and project applications developed under its GreenUp strategy.

At the Veolia exhibition stand, technical briefings and project case studies were delivered on a range of high-profile topics, including industrial wastewater zero-liquid discharge, membrane-based treatment processes and AI-driven carbon reduction solutions. By closely aligning cutting-edge environmental technologies with real-world operational scenarios, Veolia shared with industry peers its innovative approaches and hands-on experience in addressing complex environmental challenges. An interactive AI experience zone was also featured on-site, offering visitors a vivid demonstration of how digital technologies are reshaping the environmental services sector.

On 13 April, on the sidelines of the expo, the “Sustainable Development and Zero-Carbon Partners Working Committee” was formally established under the auspices of the China Association for the Promotion of International Cooperation (CAPIC), with the initiative jointly launched by a number of leading multinational corporations. Veolia, serving as the Chair organisation of the Committee, participated in the preparatory work alongside AB InBev China, TotalEnergies, Airbus China, Michelin and other member companies, and witnessed the formal inauguration of the body.

The founding ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Su Deliang, Vice President of CAPIC; Huang Xiaojun, General Representative of Veolia China; and Liu Guanhong, Standing Member of the Party Committee of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, all of whom delivered remarks at the occasion.

In parallel with the exhibition, Veolia's team actively participated in technical exchanges across multiple forum sessions. At the 2026 China Environmental Technology Conference, Zhang Xiaobo, Director of Corporate Affairs and Strategy at Veolia China, presented the company's strategic priorities in the context of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, with a focus on zero-waste and zero-carbon industrial parks as well as the management of emerging contaminants.

At the 2026 Carbon Neutrality and Green Development Conference roundtable dialogue, Katrina Yuan, Director of External Relations and Government Affairs at Veolia, moderated a discussion with representatives from AB InBev China, Michelin and other organisations on topics including supply chain emissions reduction and resource recovery and recycling.

Three of Veolia's technical leads delivered dedicated presentations at breakout sessions:

- Lucy Zhao Meng, Municipal Water Operations Support Engineer, introduced the application of AI algorithms in thermal power plant operations;

- Li Yang, Technical Director of the Hazardous and Solid Waste Business Line, analysed technical pathways for the integrated treatment of PFAS through combined water and solid waste management approaches;

- Chen Yiyun, Head of the Shanghai Pudong Water Supply and Drainage Technology Development Centre, shared case studies on the use of trenchless technologies in pipeline network rehabilitation.

Veolia's participation in this year's IE expo China provided a comprehensive platform to demonstrate the company's advanced technologies and their practical applications in real operational environments. Going forward, Veolia will continue to advance the implementation of its GreenUp strategy, maintaining close collaboration with partners across sectors to collectively address the concrete tasks and challenges inherent in the ecological transition.
