Veolia China Releases First ESG Report
On 22nd September 2025, Veolia China officially released its 'Veolia China Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report 2024.' This is Veolia's first ESG report in mainland China, comprehensively showcasing its sustainable development achievements in China for 2024 across environmental, social, and governance dimensions, demonstrating its purpose of Ecological Transformation and firm commitment to China's ecological transition and 'Dual Carbon' goals.
In Veolia's view, ecological transformation is not merely a cold task indicator, but a heartwarming life transformation. The vitality of this transformation surges in every drop of recycled water, leaps in every unit of clean energy flow, and flourishes vigorously on every inch of regenerated land.

Environmental
Decarbonization

As a pioneer in carbon reduction, Veolia not only exemplifies its commitment through tangible actions, minimizing its own carbon footprint and driving the decarbonization of production systems, but also joins forces with industry partners to advance decisively toward the "Dual Carbon" goals with bespoke decarbonization solutions.
To effectively reduce its carbon emissions, Veolia sets carbon reduction targets for every project, working to lower the operational carbon footprint through production equipment optimization, improved energy efficiency, and the adoption of clean energy. Progress toward these targets is tracked quarterly to ensure the decarbonization goals are steadily achieved.
Meanwhile, we support our clients' ecological transition through innovative solutions. These include: operating a biomass cogeneration project in Sichuan that annually consumes 300,000 tons of agricultural and forestry waste, replaces fossil fuels, avoids 220,000 tons of CO₂ emissions, and boosts the local economy; meanwhile, providing energy management services for a 330,000-square-meter commercial complex in Harbin, achieving annual energy cost savings of over 2 million RMB and significantly reducing the operational carbon footprint.
Regeneration

As an important participant and expert in the circular economy, Veolia is committed to developing resource regeneration solutions to extend the lifespan and value of extracted resources, working together to address resource challenges.
Throughout 2024, a total of 68,517 tons of plastic were recycled. Veolia Huafei, a leading company in recycled plastics under Veolia, provided a variety of high-quality recycled plastic products for sectors such as automobiles, food, and home appliances.
Veolia deeply explores the needs of industrial clients in China, striving to improve the efficiency of water services. At the same time, it utilizes multiple advanced technologies for wastewater recycling to reduce the environmental impact of industrial and municipal water use, achieving sustainable management and protection of water resources. In 2024, Veolia China saved over 60.25 million cubic meters of water.
Depollution

As a leading enterprise in hazardous waste treatment and disposal in China, Veolia provides hazardous waste disposal, on-site hazardous waste management, contaminated site remediation, and environmental emergency services for enterprises, industrial parks, and cities. Veolia covers the entire process from collection, transportation, storage, utilization, to disposal.
Veolia possesses multiple hazardous waste treatment technologies, including incineration, physico-chemical treatment, solidification and stabilization, secure landfill (flexible and rigid landfill), and resource recovery. Currently, Veolia operates and manages more than 10 hazardous waste utilization and disposal projects in China, distributed across 12 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, with a total permitted hazardous waste utilization and disposal capacity exceeding 1 million tons per year.
Veolia has established a comprehensive operational management system, formulating standardized operating procedures for all treatment processes, and utilizes big data to achieve information-based management, effectively enabling refined management of hazardous waste.
