当今的挑战是开发出新的、更经济、更高效的、基于循环经济的资源利用模式。

资源再利用相比新能源的开采、生产和运输降低了二氧化碳的排放。

针对适应和应变能力，威立雅实施了三种解决方案：

- 回收利用水，以减少对资源造成的压力和用户之间的冲突；
- 管理污水系统以避免雨水造成的洪灾；
- 在极端事件中的提供基本服务的应急计划。

关于减少排放，威立雅开发了三个循环经济方案，以减少自身及客户的碳足迹：

- 节能和供热管网;
- 再生能源生产;
- 材料和水的回收和再利用。
