3) On-site solutions
Veolia offers corporate on-site management of waste sorting at its source, this includes collection, consolidation, storage and labelling.

 4) Model for global integration services
Veolia’s advantage lies in the fact that the same services in one contract can be applied globally to all of a company’s sites through a framework agreement.

5) On-site optimization of energy and water consumption
Veolia’s environmental service team works in conjunction with other branches of the Group to meet all the environmental needs of corporate customers.

Sites Cleaning

Veolia cleans and maintains industrial sites including production lines, public areas such as parks, roadways, buildings train and bus stations, as well as related vehicles such as airplanes, trains, subways or buses.

Veolia ensures that people can enjoy a neat environment in which to go about their daily activities in a safe way.

Industrial equipment and network cleaning and maintenance

Veolia ensures the proper operation of its industrial clients’ production base while helping boost productivity by cleaning, maintaining and repairing equipment. The strict respect of working schedules along with proper equipment maintenance minimizes production line downtime and maximizes the recycling of raw materials.

1) Comprehensive solutions
Veolia maintains chemical, petrochemical, oil refining, steel, automotive, metallurgical and pharmaceutical facilities, providing high-pressure water jet, chemical and other cleaning services for storage tanks, pipeline furnaces, boilers and other equipment.
Veolia also provides maintenance and repair services and can provide on the spot services in case of hazardous and non-hazardous material spills. Its industrial services include waste collection and safe disposal as well as the pumping and transportation of liquid waste.

2) Safety, innovation, technology
Veolia uses sophisticated technologies to operate within factories, ensuring the safety of its industrial clients’ employees while meeting strict time requirements.

3) Improvement in performance
Veolia provides customers with the best technical results and most secure waste management, improving their productivity and seeing to it that ecology and the economy go hand in hand.

Soil Remediation

Veolia’s waste management technology provides remediation services for polluted soil resulting from industrial accidents or after a site has been vacated due to heavily polluting industrial activity.

1) Tailored treatment processes and services
Veolia offers solutions that are tailored to the needs of customers, whether soil remediation in the operation of an industrial facility is a temporary necessity, or part of a large-scale restoration project for municipal governments; our solutions ensure that full use is made of biological, physical, chemical and heat treatment processing and application.
Veolia meets the demands of both municipalities and companies for cleaning, dismantling, transferring and treating contaminated building equipment.
Our services assure that sustainable means are used in the treating of methane, leachate and industrial wastewater generated by the soil remediation process.

2) Innovative solutions
Veolia has researched and developed phytoremediation with CNRS (French National Scientific Research Centre)  to restore soil contaminated by sludge spraying.

Hazardous Waste Treatment

Recycling

In accordance with national standards, Veolia recovers materials contained in industrial baths, effluents, sludge, sewage and other waste using innovative treatment methods. This can also include components, solvents, hydrocarbons and polluting packages out of industrial agents - under economically viable conditions.

Incineration

Incineration is the most direct way to treat and dispose of hazardous waste. With mature and reliable technology that adapts through its design to every type of waste, Veolia’s Hazardous Waste to Energy facilities can help customers meet stable operation, easy maintenance, reasonable economics, scientific management, environmental protection and health and safety goals.

  •  High Temperature Incineration is proven and safe for hazardous organic chemicals and hard to deal with materials not suitable for other treatments;
  • It's considered the most environmentally friendly choice for chemicals and high-density materials: some waste including persistent organic pollutants and high-density materials must be destroyed with the highest level of security in accordance with the law and commercial security;
  • Incineration under high temperature is widely used and effective. This process – with temperatures above 1100°C – achieves a destruction rate of 99.99% and is the best way to thoroughly destroy hazardous waste, whether it be excess and expired products, laboratory waste and reagents, electronic waste or contaminated soil.

Medical Waste Management

The proper treatment of infectious medical waste is of great importance to human health and environmental protection because of its biological toxicity and corrosiveness. Veolia has experience in the whole process of medical waste disposal from collection, storage, transfer and treatment, thereby ensuring appropriate medical waste disposal services to cities.
Veolia as adopted medical waste treatment technologies, including:

  • Microwave, high-temperature, and high-pressure sterilization.
  • Chemical disinfection.
  • High-temperature incineration (i.e. rotary kiln and pyrolysis incinerator).

Stabilization and landfilling

It is essential that the safe disposal of elements from hazardous waste be done without dispersing pollutants so as to protect the environment and public health. Veolia stabilizes these pollutants and stores them in secure dedicated landfills.
Non-recyclable hazardous waste such as fly and bottom ashes have to first be solidified so as to stabilize them, usually through the use of cement. They then can be safely disposed of in secure dedicated landfills.

An on-site laboratory tests samples of stabilized waste in order to ensure lasting stability before it enters the landfill, while upstream and downstream surface water, groundwater and vegetation is constantly monitored for traces of contamination.
Veolia’s Hazardous Waste dedicated landfills are highly engineered and managed to meet stringent environmental standards.

Physical/Chemical and Wastewater treatmen

Veolia operates over 60 physiochemical treatment facilities, handling liquids containing heavy metals, acid waste and contaminated sludge.

Veolia continually develops technological innovations to dispose of hazardous waste and contaminated wastewater through adaptive disposal processes. In Singapore, for instance, a unique fully automated physical and chemical treatment process using intelligent monitoring and control system (IMCS) has been put in place.

Marpol

MARPOL 73/78 is the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships. Its stated objective is "to preserve the marine environment through the complete elimination of pollution by oil and other harmful substances and the minimization of accidental discharge of such substances."
Veolia’s Hong Kong Chemical Treatment Centre provides purpose-built MARPOL reception and treatment operating at the highest health, safety and environmental standards. It also offers technical support so as to ensure complete compliance with stringent MARPOL legislation.

Veolia’s Hong Kong Chemical Treatment Centre treats two types of MARPOL waste as defined in annex I and II of the MARPOL Convention:

  • Annex I waste is defined as liquid oil waste or any other mixture which contains oil.
  • Annex II waste is defined as noxious liquid substances or any other mixtures which contain residues from any noxious liquid substance.
