38 countries contributed to this second edition, with participation up 40% from last year. The jury - representatives of the sustainable development, human resources and communications departments -selected and rewarded 42 personal initiatives, including: - In the **Philippines**, protecting biodiversity by building artificial ocean reefs.
- ​In **Oman**, watering trees on a farm using the water collected by a drip system, thus reducing water consumption by 70%.
- In **Poland**, recovering heat from a chimney conduit to heat a workshop using a homemade system.
- In **Spain**, contributing to reforesting areas devastated by forest fires by planting a drought-resistant species of tree.

Resourcing the world also depends on the personal commitment of Veolia employees all over the world.
